TEN
Presented by Dance4.
Somewhere between Bolton, Barbados, Scotland and India three men, Hetain, Mark and Dave, make a journey of discovery.
Taking music and the Indian ten-beat rhythm cycle as a starting point, this performance delves with endearing honesty and humour into the usually dry questions of cultural identity. TEN looks at the meeting place between the red dot on the Hindu forehead and the red cross on the English flag. Negotiating multiple and overlapping identities in Britain today, TEN asks what is behind this need to belong?
Hetain Patel is a critically acclaimed and highly prolific artist, his work interrogates language and cultural identity and now encompasses video, sound, live art, performance and dance, cementing him firmly as ‘one to watch’.
Produced by Dance4. Commissioned by Dance4 and New Art Exchange. Supported by Lakeside Arts Centre and the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Followed by Q&A with Hetain Patel & Ehsan Gill.

Sacred Weight
A Seedfund Performance by Ehsan Gill.
7pm Limited Capacity.
Ehsan Gill (Instant Win! 2009) returns with an exploration of the tension between his “British” way of life and his Muslim background. A very personal account of the burden of expectation from either side of the cultural divide, Sacred Weight explores readings of race and identity in an action which is both fragile and yet hard to swallow.
