The show is a special Ruby Tuesday commission from the writer Claire Dowie.

Take three friends: Louise, Terese and JJ. Terese fancies Louise who fancies JJ who fancies Terry but Louise doesn't like Terry, that's a man's name and so is Lou - but what about JJ… And… Terese thinks Louise is a dyke but she says she's not even though she fancies JJ because she thought s/he was a bloke - Dressing up as men - They like it - it's fun - isn't it???

Ruby Tuesday Productions was set up in 1996 to present the very best of lesbian theatre. The company's first production, The Dyke and the Pornstar by Bayla Travis sold out from Ireland to Sydney. They have worked with several new writers, choosing to commission a new play from Claire Dowie last year.

The three performers, Deni Frances, Clarke Hayes and Juley McCann all have considerable theatrical experience. Designs for Living is directed by Barcy Cogdale, founder member of Ruby Tuesday Productions. Claire Dowie has written several plays for stage, radio and television. She describes her style as Stand Up Theatre. Her plays include "Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt?" and "The Year of the Monkey".
