Cassettesac

Lead Artist:

Company:
Johnothan Pram

Johnothan Pram is victim to the 21st century and chronically out of step Johnothan’s living room & Johnothan’s cassettessac are two highly visual solo performances comprising two separate episodes in the life of Johnothan Pram - an individual struggling to endure the mechanics of the modern world. Like an unbalanced Mr Benn he encounters unexpected environments prompting an array of neurotic activity as he forever tries to escape the antics of a man made world. Bewildered but not resigned, he’s the everyman of his time, lost within a deranged set of circumstances, battling against the confusion that arrives with each day. ‘Johnothan’s cassettessac’ Johnothan Pram lives his life according to the tape player lodged in his stomach. It gives instructions, he follows, life is precise just don’t ask questions. But when your life is arranged onto tape for convenience there’s only so long before the seductions of technology begin to lose their appeal. ‘Johnothan’s living room’ Johnothan Pram paces inside a small box. 6 suitcases contain his belongings and 4 walls keep the outside world at bay. Amidst the clutter of the everyday he clings to a set of belongings, struggling to keep everything in its place as the walls begin to give way. Strong physicality, angular acoustics & crooked vocabulary deliver an inventive fusion of song, music, text & mime. Influence taken from Samuel Beckett, Captain Beefheart, Franz Kafka and David Lynch
