Lance Gries was a featured dancer with the Trisha Brown Company, for which work he was honoured by a dance fellowship from the Princess Grace Foundation and a New York Dance and Performance 'Bessie' Award for outstanding performance.
Lance Gries' show, A Body of Work, was the hit of the 1995 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and explored the limits of male physicality. In the opening section, 'Organum', Lance Gries sat naked at a baby grand piano. A Body of Work was presented at the greenroom on Friday 10 - Saturday 11 May 1996 as part of that year's queerupnorth festival.
