Charlatan Theatre Company's take on George Orwell's 1984.

Written in 1948, published in 1949 and set thirty-six years in the future, 1984 is George Orwell's dark vision of the future.

An imaginary future set in the Oceanian province of Airstrip One, governed by the totalitarian regime of the Party; it’s leader and dictator Big Brother. A world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, public mind control, and the voiding of citizens' rights.

In the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue), protagonist Winston Smith is a civil servant responsible for perpetuating the Party's propaganda by revising historical records to render the Party omniscient and always correct, yet his meager existence disillusions him into rebellion against Big Brother, which leads to his arrest, torture, and conversion.
