Simon Bowes

I am a freelancing artist and researcher based in the North-West of England. My work borrows from Live Art, Performance and Theatre, moving between performance lectures, talks, singsongs, discreet works, one-to-ones, journeys, short walks, long conversations and grand days out.

I am lead artist for “Kings of England” and am currently developing two works “Where We Live & What We Life For” & “If ”. These works explore family in order to question bloodlines, genealogies, personal histories auto/biography, and furthermore, to celebrate love, loss, happiness, and the passing of time: To the Other, Old World – the one before us. We were nothing -yet- but possibility.

“WWL...” was commissioned by The Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster, Battersea Arts Centre, Leeds MetStudio Theatre and The Bluecoat, Liverpool, and Arts Council England. “If ” will be supported by Atelier Real, Lisbon, Portugal, and the Bluecoat, Liverpool, in 2010.

I am a member of Sometimes... arts collective, who produce public engagement projects in association with greenroom and the people of Manchester.

Could you sum up your feelings about greenroom and/or its impact on your work?:

You gave me a supportive environment to make my early work. Thankyou.
