Russell Maliphant

The Russell Maliphant Company was established in 1996 as the framework for Russell Maliphant to initiate productions and to work with his own ensemble of dancers. The Company is responsible for producing and touring the Russell Maliphant Dance Company, and the management of Russell Maliphant and the presentation of his work worldwide.

The Russell Maliphant Dance Company tours Maliphant’s work extensively, both nationally and internationally. In 2007 the Company completed a week long run at the celebrated Harvey Theatre, Brooklyn Academy of Music and in 2009, performed at the Dansens Hus, Stockholm and Theatre National de Chaillot, Paris, for the first time.

Russell Maliphant Dance Company has received a number of awards including: a TimeOut Live Award for ‘Outstanding Collaboration’, for the work Sheer and in 2003 a South Bank Show Award for One Part II, Two Times Three and Choice.

In Autumn 2009, the Russell Maliphant Dance Company will present a new work by Russell, celebrating the significance of Nijinsky and the Ballet Russes. This will be included in a new touring programme available from February 2010.

Outside of his work as Director of the Company, Russell has been involved with a number of projects with collaborators, most recently PUSH (2005) with Sylvie Guillem, and Eonnagata (2009) with Sylvie Guillem and Robert Lepage both of which continue to tour internationally.
