Jordi Bertran
It ́s now more than twenty years since Jordi Bertran got in touch in 1977 with a group of puppet artists from Barcelona, the “Grupo Taller de Marionetas”, directed by Pepe Otal. Thanks to them he discovered the fascinating power of puppets and their incredible communication capacity.
Later, Jordi Bertran worked in two puppet groups: ”El Col.lectiu d’Animació de Barcelona” (1978), directed by Carles Cañellas, and “La Companyia Ambulant Els Farsants” (1979-1987), from which he was a co-founder.
In 1987, he started his own company with the aim of reaching basically the adult audience and of being able to spread and dignify the art he had just been learning.
Thanks to the effort of many artists and collaborators (Jordi Bertran, Zilda Torres, Miquel Gallardo, Karin Schäfer, Santi Arnal, Dolors Fernández, Ferran Bertran, Toni Zafra, Mercè Framis, Mireia Margenat, Olivier Benoit, Silvia G. Framis, Dani Ibor...), the Companyia Jordi Bertran is nowadays one of the most famous and prestigious puupet groups in Spain. It has won several national and international awards and has taken part in the most important scenical art festivals around the world, it has toured round more than twenty countries, and it has worked in some television programmes. Millions of people around the world have seen the works of this group.
