Forecast Dance
Forecast dance
Forecast’s work mobilises a kaleidoscope of shapes and sounds dynamically interweaving different modes of discourse. Throughout though, layers of poignant lived experience are conveyed through the bodies in motion (and stasis).’ (Robin Nelson – Professor performance studies)
Forecast have been working together since 2002. We are a collective of artists interested in exploring the relationship of movement and words in performance. We meet and make work regularly but the idea of the collective is that it allows us to make art in a way that fits in with our lives as lecturers, mothers, fathers and free-lancers. Working with long term collaborator director Mark Whitelaw, our work can be beautiful, odd, thoughtful visceral and heady.
About us
We have collaborated with choreographers such as Paula Hampson and Emily Burns and members have worked individually with, amongst others, Thomas Lehman, Motion House, Wim Vandekeybus, Ludus, Piano Circus, Georgina Lamb (Frantic Assembly), Heidi Rustgaarde (H2 dance), Bouge de la, Ursula Martinez and New Art Club. They have been selected for Dance Northwest’s Exploratorium project, LEAP international festival of dance and Turn North west dance platform at Green Room, Manchester. Their work has been regularly supported by the Arts Council including research and development grants and Arts Council touring funding.
Artistic Director - Anna Macdonald
Alongside being artistic director of Forecast Anna Macdonald is also a Senior Lecturer in Dance and Live Arts at MMU. After gaining a Masters by Research in 2004 looking at the notion of repetition and memory in dance, her recent research interests focus on the relationship of dance and text and time in performance. www.cheshire.mmu.ac.uk/dca/staff/profile_add.php?id=149.
